I am a junior staff accountant. I was given a job offer of $32,000/year after working at the same company as a temp for 4.5 months. Isn’t this offer low? Lets consider the fact that the company is billed $22/hr from the agency. What salary should I get? I have a BBA in accounting and 3 month internship and 4.5 months of job experience.
The average salary for entry level accountant jobs in Chicago, IL is $52000.Hence the job offer of $32,000/year is definitely low.

I think you begin with administrator. You may get promotion within years given your qualification and if you work hard enough.

So I am trying to think of questions involving Campaign Finance and Jobs/Unemployment for a Political Debate that my school political group is holding. I need some help on coming up with some questions to ask during the debate that involve the Presidential Debate coming up. Any help is really appreciated.

I know currently that the average salary is $83,485, but what is 2008, 2009, and 2007. The actual job name is Accounting Manager, not accountant or auditor.

I always hear that accounting majors can do any finance jobs, if this is true then why would people go for finance instead of accounting? do you actually gain less if you studied finance compared to accounting? thanks in advance
That’s not necessarily true. I don’t think a single investment bank would hire a person who had only done straight accounting and had absolutely no finance knowledge.
It depends on what you want. People who go into finance jobs claim they don’t need accounting knowledge (I disagree, I think you need accounting knowledge in every job in the commercial world). In accounting jobs, however, you only really need a basic knowledge of finance. An introductory finance subject at University would be enough, you don’t really need to know how to price complicated financial instruments, for example.
I don’t think you gain less if you studied finance compared with accounting, it really depends on what type of work you want to do.
If you have your heart set on being an investment banker than you probably don’t need accounting that much. And if you have your heart set on being a tax accountant, then you probably don’t need finance that much.
Having knowledge in both does help, though.

To complete this How-To you will need:
Your credit rating
A pre-approved car loan
Math skills
On-time payments
A down payment (optional)
Step 1: Get your credit rating
Request a copy of your credit report by logging onto annualcreditreport.com or by calling 1-877-322-8228. You are entitled to one free copy per year. Car loans are based on your credit rating, so make sure there are no mistakes.
Tip: Try to scrape together a down payment of at least 15 percent, which will greatly reduce your financing costs.
Step 2: Shop before you shop
Once you figure out how much you can afford to spend on a monthly payment, and before you set foot on a car lot, get a bank or credit union to pre-approve you for a car loan.
Tip: Search online for sites that compare current auto-loan rates.
Step 3: Focus on the APR
When comparing loans, focus on the APR—annual percentage rate—rather than the monthly payment. It’s more important to have a low interest rate, as long as you can make the payment each month.
Tip: Resist the temptation to finance a car for longer than 48 months. You’ll be paying so much in interest that if the car is stolen or wrecked, you run the risk of owing more than the car is worth.
Step 4: Play let’s make a deal
Head to the dealership. Tell them you’re pre-approved for a car loan, and ask them if they can offer you a better financing deal than the one you’ve secured already.
Step 5: Do the math
Always crunch the numbers before agreeing to a financing plan. If the dealer offers you a choice of either zero-percent financing or a cash rebate, do the math to figure out which is the better deal.
Step 6: Pay on time
Make your payments on time. Late payments lead to late fees, which will affect your credit rating.
